BARRAULT François President and CEO, EMEA Session 22/11/01– 14:00     Biographie/Biography Mr. Barrault is acting president and CEO for Lucent Technologies in EMEA. Mr Barrault joined Lucent in 1999 from Ascend Communications where he was senior vice president international. Mr Barrault, 41, has more than 18 years of experience in management within the IT Industry including executive positions within IBM, Computervision/Prime and Stratus. As president of the Stratus EMEA region, he developed strong partnerships for the company in Europe by creating strategic alliances with partners like Hewlett Packard. He was also co-founder and chairman of the Board of Astria, an e-commerce software supplier. As he joined Ascend, Mr Barrault successfully positioned the company as a key player in the European telecom market by creating significant partnerships with major European carriers like Deutsch Telekom, KPN, Belgacom, Mobistar, Orange, Telefonica. As the move towards a converged and mobile multimedia network is accelerating and the need of high quality mobile broadband networks continues to grow, Mr Barrault is leading the effort to develop Lucent’s leadership in the international mobility market. Education Mr Barrault holds a Bachelor of Science from the University "Ecole Centrale", as well as a masters degree with first class honours in artificial intelligence and robotics.
