Joanna Shields joined RealNetworks
in March 2001 as head of European operations for the company.
Ms. Shields was most recently Chief Executive Officer of Veon,
where since 1998 she guided the company's ascent to leader
in broadband programming solutions for commercial and entertainment
applications. The company was named a Top 50 Private Company
by Red Herring magazine in 2000, and Shields earned the distinction
of Top 10 Executives in the industry by Electronic Media magazine
that same year. Philips Electronics, NV, acquired the company
early in 2001. Prior to that, Shields was with Electronics
for Imaging (EFI), where she worked seven years in key management
positions including Vice President of Production Systems and
Vice President of Worldwide Sales.
Ms. Shields has held management positions with the Canon USA,
National Digital Corporation and Deloitte, Haskins and Sells.
She holds a B.Sc. from Pennsylvania State University and an
MBA from George Washington University.
