Ruprecht Niepold is affiliated with the European Commission where he holds the position of Head of the Unit “Mobile and Satellite Communications” in Directorate General for Information Society.

Mr.Niepold holds a Degree of Electrical Engineering of the Technical University of Karlsruhe and a PhD of the University of Stuttgart.

He has worked at the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft in applied research for industry in the field of industrial automation before joining the European Commission where he became responsible for relations with Japan and South East Asia in the field of telecommunications policy. His present responsibility covers mobile and satellite communications as well as spectrum policy aspects.
